Art comes close to stopping time for me.
There is a stillness about painting that makes time feel temporarily suspended, like the total silence of a woods after a fresh snow or the hushed space between notes in a musical caesura or the quiet in the eye of a hurricane.
In the instant I see something that moves me – a certain light, a face, a tree or flower, shapes, lines, colors, emotions – art helps me freeze that moment and hold on to it.
